Bill Wegner

Biography

Bill Wegner was an American success story. He rose from a modest childhood to become a prosperous businessman, community leader, and elected official. Combined with a wonderful family, he seemed to have it all. Yet he was still unsatisfied.

Bill came to realize that what was missing in his life was a relationship with his God. Through a major conversion he was able to finally find the peace of Jesus.

Now in full-time ministry for over eighteen years, Bill has conducted over 400 parish missions, workshops and conferences throughout the United States, Ireland, and Central America.

In November 2000, the Sacred Heart Institute presented Bill with the Father Jim Ferry Award for evangelization. He is the founder and president of Good News International, a Catholic lay ministry, which was nominated in 2001 for the Pope Pius VI Evangelization Award by the National Catholic Conference for Evangelization (NCCE) in Washington, DC.

Bill is also the founder of "Celebrating Our Catholic Faith Tent Revival" held each year in Monmouth County, New Jersey. He and his wife, Cheryl, are the co-administrators of the Good News School of Evangelization.

Also a frequent conference speaker, Bill challenges his sisters and brothers to live the Gospel in their everyday lives. He has spoken at the Diocese of Scranton annual conference at Scranton University, the Diocese of Wilmington conference in Rehoboth Beach, and also the Follow the Spirit conference in East Brunswick, New Jersey. He has also been a featured guest on Johnnette Benkovic's show on EWTN, "The Abundant Life".

Bill echoes Pope John Paul II as he reminds us of our baptismal call to "Dare to be Holy," which is also the title of his recently published book.

Bill and Cheryl are the proud parents of four children and the very proud grandparents of seven grandsons and three granddaughters.

Bill Wegner is a full-time Catholic lay evangelist for the past thirteen years. Bill has conducted over 300 parish missions, workshops and conferences throughout the United States, Ireland, and Central America. In addition, he is the founder and director of the School for Catholic Lay Evangelization in New Jersey. Wegner holds a B.S. in education from Monmouth University and a M.S. in theology from Georgian Court University.

In 1994 Bill felt that God was calling him from the business world where he was a successful business owner into full-time ministry in the Catholic Church.

After attending workshops on Catholic spirituality and evangelization Bill began the gradual process of leaving the business world and transitioning into ministry.

He founded the Good News School of Evangelization with the permission and blessing of the Bishop of Trenton, John Reiss, and also entered into a 3-year formation program of study about his Catholic faith.
